About Cynthia
Special Ed Paraprofessional
I am a high school special education paraprofessional and substitute teacher at Voyageurs (VES). I studied Social Work at Bemidji State University, Reflexology and Swedish Massage at Sister Gefre’s School of Massage in St. Paul, MN, and earned my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through technical college. I’ve worked a broad range of jobs, including CNA, Domestic Violence Community Educator, Victim Services Advocate, Synodically Appointed Minister (SAM) for ELCA, assistant to a show horse trainer, and elementary para in Warroad.
Warroad, MN, is my hometown, Bemidji was my home for college and my 20’s, then I moved back to Warroad. In August 2023, I married my husband, Dan, and moved back to the area. When I interviewed at Voyageurs, I fell in love with the philosophy and guiding principles here, and I knew I had found my work community. I love our holistic, creative, and relationship-focused approach to education. My husband is involved as our after-school Small Engine’s Repair Club educator as well as volunteering here during E-Weeks, etc.
I am a mother of 3 and a step-mom of 3. My eldest is grown and married, and the rest are teens. We have a dog and 2 cats. We enjoy biking, outdoor adventures, live music, and KBXE community radio.
