Voyageurs Expeditionary School administers the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test in the fall and spring of each school year. MAP is a computer adaptive test, which means every student gets a unique set of test questions based on responses to previous questions. When finished, students receive a score – a number – called a RIT score. This score represents a student’s achievement level at a given moment in the school year, when the test is given. At Voyageurs Expeditionary School, we use these scores to analyze students’ academic growth. Most students take less than an hour to complete a MAP test. However, it is not a timed test, and students are given as much time as they need to complete it. Testing data is used to help teachers personalize lessons and interventions for students. The reading MAP is administered in grades 6-11. The math MAP is administered in grades 6-11. The science MAP is administered in grades 8 and 10.
